Architectural Resource Consultants provided HDS (High Definition Survey) 3D laser scanning and modeling services to document the existing condition of the LA Forum in Los Angeles, California. Originally built in 1966, the LA Forum was in need of construction. Turner Construction Company was looking to improve the facility and make it more accommodating for both sporting events and concerts, and needed to understand its existing conditions before proceeding with construction.
ARC provided a laser scan of the entire facility, as well as a BIM model of a requested room inside. In order to achieve their responsibilities, ARC’s scan technicians worked inside the forum and on top of the roof to accurately capture the existing facility. Above shows a point cloud of the interior, which was not modeled by ARC. The BIM image shows a model of the requested room in progress with the point cloud overlay.
