ARC was excited to support Langan Engineering in documenting the CitiGroup World Headquarters Buildings which are located in the financial district of lower Manhattan. The two building complex was previously owned by Citi but was sold to a partnership. In 2013, Citi signed a deal in which their lease of the 2.7 million square foot location would be renewed and the shift of the company’s headquarters from New York to Manhattan would begin. The two buildings were built in the 1990s and Citi is expected to gut and renovate the interior and exterior of the two properties.

ARC was hired to provide supplemental scan crews to help accelerate the project schedule. ARC was working as part of a team documenting the existing conditions on approximately half of the square footage of both subject buildings. The focus was on capturing and representing the existing exterior and interior architecture as well as above ceiling plenum space surrounding the building core and the mechanical spaces.

Scan crews worked overnight shifts in order for the offices to remain fully functional throughout the day. The ARC team assisted in the scanning, registration of data, and the modeling process.

Mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems such as these are highly complex environments and require an enormous amount of effort to model. The scanning process lasted about four weeks and modeling took about six months.
